Architectural office Hans-Jürgen Mertens
The architectural practice Mertens was founded in 1988 in Bad Neuenahr by the architect / BDA Hans-Jürgen Mertens, after studying architecture in Berlin and Darmstadt and assisting Prof. Rüdiger Kramm (Darmstadt). Alongside new builds, extensions, conversions, modernisations and renovations in the area of structural engineering, the practice’s portfolio is rounded off by interior design services. Mertens architects perform all the stages of the architectural work with respect to structural engineering and interior design for residential / office buildings, trade, commerce, industry and public buildings. With seven employees, Hans Jürgen Mertens is active throughout Germany for public and private clients. In the Ahr valley, which is characterised by a high level of tourism, the architectural practice often faces the task of designing food service establishments which are viable for the future. Thus, it has designed and realised a new wine cellar for the Stodden wine-growing family for the second time in the municipality of Rech.
