There are many possible ways to make a company and a brand shine. But one critical way is to make the company's headquarters appears in the best light.

If Salewa, one of the leading mountain sports specialists, is planning a new headquarters, then it may well come to first ascents in various construction and design areas – figuratively speaking. The commissioned light and lighting expert Zumtobel in Dornbirn integrated an innovative lighting concept within a unique architectural concept for Salewa. Together with the architects, a new luminaire was developed in order to allow the Salewa headquarters to stand out and shine as a center of ideas, research and development. The IBLA luminaire was born.

It is the result of a request by the architects of Studio Park Associati. As Julian Lonsdale, Graduate Designer at Zumtobel, explains: »With the design language, reference was made to the cubature of the building. At the same time, we were to underline the positive atmosphere with its lighting effect and design. In a co-design process with Hasenkopf Industrie Manufaktur, a high quality luminaire was created – the first one of Zumtobel with a Corian housing.« So much for the first ascent.

Julian Lonsdale continues: »The luminaire was not only supposed to meet the design requirements, but also to ensure ideal lighting conditions without glare effects at the workstations. They should be dimmable and feature direct and indirect light.« The form of the IBLA and its materialization demanded new ways of manufacturing. »With Hasenkopf, we have found a partner who has the necessary expertise and who convinced us with their willingness to experiment and their inexhaustible commitment. With the stated aim to find the truly best solution: i.e. a very high quality luminaire that meets all project specifications.«
