DESIGN SHOWS CHARACTER: SWAN
»Swan« is part of the »Design Characters« range, with which industrial manufacturer Hasenkopf shows its skills in the individual custom production of spectacular objects. Based on designs from selected designers, Hasenkopf has created amazing objects that explore the limits of the possible in processing and forming.
GRACEFUL SHOWER-BATH COMBINATION
Designed by Titus Bernhard (Titus Bernhard Architekten, Augsburg) and Peter Martin (Martin et Karczinski), in addition to the kitchen module »Twister«, a further »design character« has come into existence: the graceful shower–bath combination »Swan«. »Swan« is not minimalist and sober in design. Rather, the elegant form relates the imaginative story of a proud, stately swan that stirs palpable emotions. The design contains a depth that draws the viewer into its spell, and the graceful interpretation of a long-forgotten bathtub brings a piece of fairy-tale past into the present.
WIDE VARIETY OF INDIVIDUAL SOLUTIONS
»Design Characters« are not primarily about developing prototypes for future mass production. Hasenkopf and its partners are experimenting with shapes, materials and processing techniques, and so they use unique character objects as examples to illustrate the wide variety of unusual, individual solutions Hasenkopf makes possible for its customers.
ARCHITECT: TITUS BERNHARD
Titus Bernhard is the founder of Titus Bernhard Architekten. The international office based in Augsburg considers architecture holistically, planning concepts for construction, interior design and furniture design, developing innovative lighting concepts and designing outdoor equipment. The team is interdisciplinary and lets its knowledge from the fields of fine arts, engineering and new media influence construction practices. Based on »classical-modern« derived architecture, the architects concern themselves with topics from the social context and with »low-budget« building. Good architecture is considered to be a cultural contribution and an important tool for representing a company to the outside world.
DESIGNER: PETER MARTIN
Peter Martin was born in 1970 in Lahr. After four semesters of art and media studies and sociology, he gave in to the longing for design and communications and studied communication design in Konstanz. He worked as a designer in Switzerland and USA, before founding his own agency for corporate design and identity with partner Daniel Karczinski. In 2008 Martin et Karczinski already won 26 national and international design prizes and awards for outstanding design, including the IF Gold, the Red Dot Award and the Gold Adam Award. Martin et Karczinski is currently ranked in 5th place among German CI/CD agencies and was listed in the 2007 page-ranking of CI/CD agencies as »Newcomer of the Year«.
