Wine-red counter for winery
At the top quality wine-growing estate Jean Stodden, everything revolves around the colour “red”. Since 1900, the family of winegrowers has primarily produced red wine. Therefore, it is no surprise that this colour is an integral part of the corporate design and can be seen several times in the logo and in the interior design.
Red and white bar
»The reduction to a few shapes, materials and colours leads to a focus on the essentials,« is how Hans-Jürgen Mertens describes the basic concept of the interior design. The eye-catching feature of the new wine cellar in the »red wine metropolis« of the Ahr valley is a striking red and white counter. The puristic body consists of a base in the Corian colour Glacier white and a counter top in Royal Red which projects out over 5 m. In the centre of the room, the counter provides a perfect presentation area for the stars of the wine cellar – a wide variety of kinds of red wine.

Precise prefabrication for fast order processing
The colour “red” is also used along the long sides of the room, as seating, as writing on the wall and as a Corian wall rack. “We wanted to use a young material in the wine cell. This is why we chose the material Corian, which is homogeneously coloured right through,” says the architect Hans-Jürgen Mertens. The joinery Schreinerei Thomas Nelles was responsible for the high-quality execution of all of the interior designs and commissioned Hasenkopf Industrie Manufaktur with the production of the Corian elements. Thomas Nelles justifies the cooperation as follows: “Due to the constant availability of all 100 Corian colours at Hasenkopf and the precise prefabrication, deliveries can take place punctually and there is not much processing for us to do on site.” The complete package also included a white bench and a worktop with a seamlessly integrated Hasenkopf Corian sink.
